I've just finished building a Hawaiian outrigger sailing canoe from scratch, and am establishing this site to display some pics and description of the process.

I've dabbled a bit doing a little woodworking over the years, but never anything I was really proud of or wanted to share with friends and family. Now I'm hopelessly hooked, and plan to build more canoes and other boats during my retirement.
I've been playing for about 15 years now, put in countless hours on the range, taken a lot of lessons, and played on many of the best courses in the country and Ireland. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll ever get to the point that I consider myself a real golfer. Three steps forward and two steps back....Carolyn took it up a few years ago and is playing more than I do now. We plan vacations around it and enjoy playing together.
I'm 33 years into the husband thing, and 30 years into the Dad thing. Guess that says something. Carolyn and I have gone through a lot together and are finally feeling like we've arrived. Looking forward to retirement, traveling together, enjoying eachother's company. Kristy and Eric are finally on their own, working on growing up and becoming who they were meant to be.

I took a sailing class about 10 years ago, and fell in love with it. I've been sailing on charter boats in the Caribbean and Chesapeake Bay several times now, and would one day like to have my own boat. The real dream is to sail around the world for a few years.
We found ourselves in Kauai 9 years ago and bought a condo there in 1999. We've been spending the winter there since then, and plan to spend Winter and Summer there, and Spring and Fall in North Carolina when I retire.
I went to Med School at LSU in New Orleans, did an Internal Medicine residency in the Charity Hospital system, and practiced in Montgomery, AL and Baton Rouge, LA for a few years. Went back for an Anesthesiology residency at Mayo Clinic. Moved to Hickory, NC in 1985, and have done anesthesia at Frye Regional Medical Center since then. I have a great bunch of partners, and have found my niche in medicine. Went part-time a few years ago and will probably retire in a few more years. Might do some locum tenens work in New Zealand when I retire???
